Serbia’s Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) Council chair Olivera Zekic said this body’s final report on the coverage of the December elections by public broadcasters, cable TV providers and commercial television stations will be on the agenda of the REM Council session in early July, when “she returns from her summer vacation.”

This was Zekic’s response to the Journalists’ Association of Serbia (UNS), which wanted to know why the REM still hasn’t released a report on the coverage of the election campaign by commercial televisions, even though the parliamentary elections were held six months ago.

“The report was to be on the agenda last Friday, but since it is 300 pages long, I didn’t manage to read it on time, so I personally took it off the agenda. When I’m back from vacation, at the beginning of July, it’ll be back on the agenda,” Zekic told the UNS.

Asked about the delay in releasing the report on the commercial broadcasters’ coverage, Zekic said the REM is not actually late and that such reports typically take six to seven months to prepare.

“We’re not late at all. If Europe thinks this can be done in two weeks, they can forget it. Reports like this are extensive and require a significant amount of time to compile,” she said.
