European Parliament confirms Picula fact-finding visit

The European Parliament confirmed rapporteur Tonino Picula’s visit to Belgrade for a fact-finding mission on 23-26 February.

 

“In his first visit as European Parliament standing rapporteur for Serbia, Tonino Picula (S&D, HR), will meet with the country’s political leadership, members of the government and opposition, as well as representatives from the media, civil society and the business sector,” a press release said.

 

It added that the visit is intended to gather information for the European Parliament’s draft report on Serbia’s progress in 2023-24 on the way to European Union membership. According to the press release the draft report will be presented to the Foreign Affairs Committee on 20 February 2025. It said that MEPs will submit their amendments and political groups will negotiate the text before it is put to a vote in the Committee which is expected to take place in April 2025 before Parliament votes on it.
