Prosecutors in Belgrade ordered an investigation into property damage and theft at the Student Culture Center (SKC) based on reporting by a pro-regime TV.
Police raided the SKC to expel protesting students who took over the center in February. The police and the SKC CEO allowed only a crew from the Informer TV in and they reported that damage was done and property stolen. That was echoed by Education Minister Dejan Vuk Stankovic.
The claims of property damage were rejected by the students who were thrown out of the SKC. They said that not only was no damage done, but that they made improvements, mainly thanks to donations from the public.
The Higher Prosecution in Belgrade said in a press release that it’s anti-corruption section would initiate the case to determine if any crime was committed by SKC staff who allowed illegal activities.
