A member of the N1 crew covering the protest in Vrbas was injured when stones were thrown at him by ruling party activists.
The protest was held in front of the local Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) offices in the Vojvodina town. SNS activists used fireworks, stones and water bottles at protesters while riot police stood in line to prevent contact between the two groups.
The N1 media crew’s assistant cameraman was hit in the stomach and shoulder. He and a number of protesters were treated for their injuries by paramedics. Protesters approached the N1 crew to show injuries from stones and fireworks thrown at them by the SNS activists hiding their faces behind masks and caps.
This is the second time in the space of several weeks that an N1 crew member was injured. Assistant cameraman Jovan Pavlovic was struck by a riot police officer wielding a baton at a protest in Belgrade on June 28 even though he was wearing a yellow vest with the word PRESS on it.
