Former High Representatives for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Austrian diplomat Wolfgang Petritsch told N1 that he is concerned over the pressure on the media outlet.
“I’m very concerned. I’ve been following this pressure on the CNN affiliate (in BH) and Serbia as well as everywhere. I consider you extremely important for the region because you have very professional reporting,” he said.
He added that professional journalism is the backbone of an open society. “This is what we need, particularly in countries like Serbia in Bosnia and in all of the Western Balkans,” he said.
According to him, the European Union needs to support free and independent media wherever it can. “This is actually a condition for joining the European Union. So I think you have the support. The freedom of media is a principle in the European Union and that needs to be told to the governments in the region,” Petritsch.
