KRIK investigative portal editor Stevan Dojcinovic told N1’s 360 Degrees show that the 2 prosecutor’s offices investigating a recording of United Group and Telekom Serbia CEOs are doing different things.
He said that the the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s office (VJT) is fighitng to spin the investigation unlike the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s office (TOK). “Both are fighting over the proceedings,” he said.
The head of the VJT, chief prosecutor Nenad Stefanovic is reported to be closely associated with the executive authorities. Dojcinovic said that Stefanovic’s office is trying to iron things out and protect the authorities.
The recording released by KRIK and the OCCRP was a phone conversation between Vladimir Lucic (CEO of the state-controlled Telekom Serbia) and Stan Miller (CEO of United Group) during which they discussed the removal of United Media CEO Aleksandra Subotic. United Media is owned by UG. Dojcinovic said the recording is authentic and recalled that UG confirmed it.
“The race is on which prosecutor will do what… We have one loyal to Vucic and that is Prosecutor Nenad Stefanovic and he launched his own investigation into the recording and then we have the TOK which launched its own investigation and is not under Vucic’s full control. I have more hope for the TOK investigation,” he said.
