The editorial board of the Zoomer.rs portal has unanimously decided to name KRIK journalist Sofija Bogosavljev and N1 journalist Mladen Savatovic as the 2025 Journalists of the Year. According to the official announcement, both reporters demonstrated exceptional bravery and high ethical standards in their professional work throughout 2025.

Sofija Bogosavljev was recognized for her diligent reporting and her resilience in the face of a SLAPP lawsuit filed by the company “Starting.” This company, a major subcontractor for the Novi Sad Railway Station project, sued Bogosavljev after she revealed that the firm had previously faced proceedings in Misdemeanor Court due to worker injuries on unsecured construction sites. At the third court hearing, Bogosavljev was acquitted of all criminal charges stemming from the lawsuit.

Mladen Savatovic was honoured for his continuous reporting from protests and blockades across Serbia during 2025. The decision specifically highlighted his coverage of the protest in Vrbas, where he and his N1 colleagues were targeted by stones and pyrotechnics thrown from the direction of the local Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) offices.

The year 2025 was also marked by a recent press conference where President Vucic labeled Savatovic a “liar.” The President continued with further unproven allegations, leading Savatovic to announce legal action against the President of the Republic for these unfounded accusations.
