Several independent media outlets in Serbia are reporting a new wave of bot attacks on their Instagram accounts, characterized by a sudden and massive spike in suspicious followers.
In just 60 minutes, the N1 Instagram account gained 28,000 new followers, a clear sign that the profile is being targeted.
There is a renewed strike on the Nova.rs profile as well, where the number of new followers grew by 80,000 in just half an hour.
The daily Danas also reported gaining approximately 30,000 followers in a 30-minute window on Tuesday.
Similar attacks are currently targeting the accounts of Nova TV and the weekly magazine Radar, both of which are seeing an enormous increase in new followers.
Just two days ago, all Nova.rs accounts were shut down, along with Radar’s account and those of other independent media outlets and civil society organizations, following a bot attack.
The accounts were restored, but new attacks have followed.
