Regime-affiliated companies reported to be buying local media outlets

The Cenzolovka portal said that regime-affiliated media tycoons are buying and setting up media outlets across the country in expectation of local elections which are due to be held this year.

 

It listed a number of local media outlets that were bought by the Best Media Team doo Belgrade in western Serbia and added that other outlets in central and eastern Serbia, all areas where local elections are coming this year. It said that the only remaining local TV in the city of Uzice was sold.

 

According to Cenzolovka, another company buying local media outlets is Zaple Media Group doo Novi Sad whose editor in chief is listed as Gradimir Brankovic of the Center for Social Stability, an NGO which has produced several videos targeting government critics. Zaple Media Group has taken over a portal covering western Serbia and set up three others covering eastern Serbia.
