Retired policeman gets threats over Radar column

Retired police inspector turned Radar columnist Predrag Simonovic said he has been getting threats over his writing about personnel changes in the Serbian police.

Simonovic said the threats came after he published a column titled A new UKP (Criminal Police Department) on the Scene – Personnel Solves it All in the independent weekly. According to him, the UKP is untouchable. “The column mentions no names but informed sources know exactly who this is about,” he added.

The UKP and several other police departments have had their commanders replaced with senior police officers considered loyal to the regime.

Simonovic said that these were the first threats he got for writing his columns, adding that previous threats were over cases he worked on.
