The man who assaulted an N1 TV crew last November has been arrested, the Nova.rs portal said quoting a prosecution statement.

The First Basic Prosecution office in Belgrade said that the police arrested a man identified as Vladan S. on February 5 on suspicion of breaking an article of the Criminal Code which sanctions the prevention of broadcasting.

Nova.rs identified the man as Vladan Sretenovic based on the portal’s earlier reports. It said that Sretenovic was convicted for murder earlier.

The prosecution statement said that Sretenovic was questioned in the presence of his lawyer and was ordered into detention on Friday “bearing in mind circumstances which indicate that he could escape and circumstances that indicate that the suspect, if freed, could commit the same crime again in a short period”.

The N1 crew (female reporter and cameraman) were assaulted by a man dressed in a black hoodie with a cap who smashed the camera and ordered them out of the enclosure between the Serbian Presidency building and parliament where regime supporters had been gathering for months.
