At the assembly in Kragujevac, a new Administrative and Supervisory Board of the Association of Online Media (AOM) was elected, and “Vremena” journalist Nedim Sejdinović was elected as its president. Stronger support for independent media and digital security was announced

Vremena journalist  Nedim Sjedinovic is the new president of the Management Board of the Association online media (AOM), and Vladimira Dorčova Waltner, journalist of “Storyteller”, his girlfriend, was decided at the assembly of that association on March 22 in Kragujevac.

“AOM plans to further intensify its work and, in cooperation with relevant journalist and media associations, as well as the digital community, to provide as much support as possible to its members, as well as other independent media, in the fight for survival, safety and the right to report professionally, in accordance with the public interest, without political and other pressures,” says Sejdinović.

“In addition to all the other challenges they face, in completely abnormal working conditions, independent portals have been the target of hacker attacks for a long time. Digital security is a very important topic for us, because we fear that these types of attacks will happen more and more in the near future,” says Sejdinović.

Flood of local “Informers”

Commenting on the sudden increase in the number of new online media, he says that the goal of their establishment is to bring down “media phenomena” from the national level to the local and regional level.

“We can expect that every local self-government will get its own little ‘Informer’ who will daily in the most dramatic way violate the Code of Journalists of Serbia and attack political opponents, including the media and journalists who report professionally and ethically.”

Common protection and solidarity

In AOM, he adds, they will try to help their colleagues protect their safety in cooperation with other organizations.

“We all agreed at the AOM assembly that an organization like ours, which gathers honorable portals, which adhere to their profession and ethics, is of exceptional importance in the current circumstances,” concludes Sejdinović.

The new members of the AOM Board of Directors are Slaviša Milanov from the “Far” portal (Dimitrovgrad), Milica Šarić from the Center for Investigative Journalism (CINS), Vladimira Dorčova Valtner from “Storyteller” (Kulpin), Jovana Živanović from Niš “Južni vesti” and journalist “Vremena” Nedim Sejdinović.

The new members of the Supervisory Board are Vladan Filipčev from “Bečejski mozaik”, Slađana Gluščević from the Novi Sad portal “Agrosmart” and Aleksandar Đekić from the portal “Moj Bečej”, announced the Association of Online Media.
