Parliamentary elections in Serbia will be held 90 to 120 days after President Aleksandar Vucic openly moves against independent media and takes a drastic step against television channels N1 and Nova, marketing expert Igor Avzner said.

Speaking on N1’s Novi dan program, Avzner said that the two TV stations are no longer just “noise in communication,” but have also become “noise in the president’s heart.”

“The signal for calling elections will be the moment when Vucic openly moves against independent media and enters the final phase of that process. I am referring to N1 and Nova S, because he can no longer tolerate any kind of noise in communication. These televisions are no longer just noise in communication, but also noise in the heart. It’s unrequited love – not only will you love me, but you will also suffer because of it,” Avzner told N1.

He added that a “drastic move” against N1 and Nova would signal the start of the election race, with elections expected to be held within 90 to 120 days from that moment.

Avzner also pointed to elections in Hungary as an example of “how to stand up to autocrats,” and said that opposition parties and the student movement must find a way to communicate with each other and bridge their differences in order to reach the best solution for both sides.
