The company Center for Information and Analytics, the publisher of the media “Naš Portal”, is no longer owned by the journalist and former host Ana Mihajlovski. According to APR data, construction businessman Branko Miljković was registered as the new owner with 100 percent of the share.
Journalist and former anchor Ana Mihajlovski announced on the social network Instagram on Thursday, May 28, that she is retiring from all functions in “Our portal” of which she was the chief and responsible editor. She explained that she could no longer guarantee editorial autonomy and conditions for the independent work of the newsroom.
Mihajlovski was the owner of the company Center for Information and Analytics doo Belgrade, which is the publisher of the media “Naš Portal” until this Monday (June 1). According to the data of the Agency for Business Registers, this company is now 100 percent owned by Branko Miljković. Miljković is the owner of construction companies, whose name has been mentioned in the public eye for years due to large deals with the state and a series of controversies.
The change is also visible on the website of this media. Miljković is listed as the director of the company, and the new editor-in-chief is Milivoje Mihajlović, the former editor of the political section of “Our Portal”.
Deputy editor-in-chief Tanja Jordović told “Raskrinkavanje” at the end of May this year that there will be no change in editorial policy, and that the new owner will be the previous donor of the portal, however, she did not want to reveal his name.
“It certainly isn’t either.” Djilas, neither Vucic. I can’t tell you because it’s within the prohibition of business policy, until it’s all over, it’s a secret,” Jordović said.
Who is Branko Miljkovic?
Branko Miljković is a businessman whose name has been associated for more than a decade with construction companies that have won important jobs in Belgrade and other parts of Serbia.
“Time” is still in 2011, in the text about businessmen from the north Kosova, it was written that Miljković is an entrepreneur from Leposavic and the owner of the company “MBA Miljković”. The family workshop founded by his father in 1967 grew over time into a large road construction company. In 2010, Miljković’s company took ownership of the company “Ratko Mitrović – Niskogradnja”, as well as shares in the companies “Jugoterm” from Merošina and “Magistral” from Belgrade.
At that time, the company, in a consortium with the Austrian “Por”, worked on the reconstruction of the highway through Belgrade and the construction of the interchange near the Hippodrome for the needs Bridge on Ada. “Vreme” also wrote at the time that Miljković’s company was considered “SPS’s sweetheart” in construction circles.
The media once again wrote more intensively about Miljković after the problem with the plateau Slavia, whose main contractor was his company “MBA Ratko Mitrović”. Due to the poor quality of the work performed, the plateau had to be repaired, and the deadline for its opening was postponed. Miljković then apologized to the citizens of Belgrade and said that his company would eliminate the deficiencies at its own expense.
Part of the workers of the company “MBA Ratko Mitrović niskogradnja” later claimed that they were not paid their salaries and transportation allowances.
Conflict with the Communals
In 2020, Miljković was taken into custody after an incident with members of the communal militia at a construction site in Bulevar heroja from Košar in Belgrade. The portal Nova.rs wrote at the time that Miljković insulted and then hit members of the municipal police who came to the construction site following a citizen’s report.
His name appeared in public as early as 2011, when Aleksandar Vučić, then the second man of the Serbian Progressive Party, declared that Zvonko Veselinović “small fish” in relation to businessman Branko Miljković.
Fifteen years later, Miljković entered the media business. For now, it is not known why Ana Mihajlovski decided that she could no longer guarantee the editorial autonomy of the portal she founded, nor what role the new owner will play in its further work.
