Photographers Gavrilo Andric and Marija Stojnic, as well as an architecture student, have been released after being detained in connection with a banner reading “Students are fighting for you”, Andric confirmed to N1.

He said they were released without questioning.

The three were detained earlier after, according to students in blockade, an unknown man broke into the apartment from whose terrace the banner had been hung. The students claim the man was not detained.

The banner was displayed on a building next to Branko Bridge, which many supporters of Serbia’s ruling Serbian Progressive Party used on their way to a pro-government rally.

Students said a man entered the apartment, falsely presenting himself as the building manager.

“There was a break-in at the apartment from whose terrace the banner ‘Students are fighting for you!’ was hung. The person had a baton, which made the threat even greater for us. He tried several times to physically confront us and to enter the terrace from the roof. He presented himself as the building manager, but one resident denied this,” the students said.

According to them, plainclothes police searched belongings outside the building, after which the photographers and the architecture student were detained.

“However, the person who broke into our apartment was not detained. He also took the banner and got into a car together with a plainclothes police officer,” the students claimed.
