Pedro Vargas David, owner of the Portuguese investment fund Alpac Capital, on Monday took up directorships at the companies through which N1, Nova S, Nova.rs, Radar and Danas operate. However, Luxembourg’s media regulator has not yet approved the transaction under which Alpac Capital is set to acquire United Group’s (UG) media business, the regulator confirmed to Raskrikavanje.
Luxembourg’s Independent Authority for Audiovisual Media (Autorité luxembourgeoise indépendante de l’audiovisuel, ALIA) told Raskrikavanje that the procedure for approving the change of control over Adria News Network — the media group that Alpac Capital intends to acquire from United Group — is still ongoing.
Approval of the change of control falls under the jurisdiction of the relevant Luxembourg ministry, which has asked ALIA to issue an opinion on the transaction.
“We are still in the process of preparing that opinion. We can confirm that the transaction has not been approved to date,” ALIA told Raskrikavanje.
As previously reported, Alpac Capital owner Pedro Vargas Santos David on Monday, August 17, took over management of the companies operating ANN’s independent media outlets in Serbia, which are part of United Group, and was officially registered as their director.
