Milos Garic, a member of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) Council, warned on Friday that the agency is in a “deadlock” that serves no one’s interests, following a third failed attempt to elect a Council president.
Speaking to the Serbian state TV (RTS), Garic explained that the Council is unable to finalize any official decisions because it lacks a president to sign them into force.
“At the moment, REM can only carry out technical legal work and monitoring. It will be difficult to reach an agreement before the election campaign begins, as some colleagues are not acting in good faith. There is a clear unwillingness to have an honest dialogue, you can see a level of arrogance and underlying animosity,” Garic said.
He emphasized that Council members carry a heavy responsibility, adding that the current situation demands a highly professional and accountable approach.
“But not all of us at REM arrived with the same goals and motives, and that is what is dividing us,” Garic added.
