The Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) on Monday failed to reach an agreement on expanding the list of outlets included in its media monitoring during the campaign for the October 25 parliamentary elections, Council chair Stevica Smederevac announced following an online meeting.
Smederevac told reporters that “there were discussions, no agreement was reached” regarding the expansion of the monitoring list. According to him, the proposal failed to secure the majority required to pass.
The electronic media regulator began its round-the-clock monitoring of election campaign coverage on September 10, currently tracking 11 television channels.
The current list includes four public broadcasting channels – state TV RTS 2 channels, state Radio TV Vojvodina (RTV) 2 channels – alongside four broadcasters with national coverage (Pink TV, Prva TV, B92 TV and Happy TV) and three cable channels (N1, Nova S and K1).
The monitoring is being conducted under a methodology adopted by the REM Council in 2023. Because of this framework, the pro-regime Informer TV – which had been floated as a potential addition alongside Insajder TV and Kurir TV – was not included on the list.
