The Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI) said it would monitor 6 TV stations during the campaign for the October 25 elections.
A press release specified that it would monitor the state TV (RTS) channel 1 (which broadcasts the main news programs), the pro-regime stations TV Pink, Prva, Hepi and B92 as well as the independent N1.
BIRODI said that its monitoring findings would be passed on to independent and regulatory bodies in line with their competencies under the law. Those include the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Equality Commissioner, Ombudsman and the Public and Data Protection Commissioner.
The monitoring will cover campaigning by officials and the use of public resources, discrimination and hate speech, violations of civil rights and failure to act by the authorities and the illegal use of personal data.
BIRODI said its findings would also go to the Commission to Protect Competition because of the unequal market conditions in advertising and the media as well as the state Auditing Institution because of the possible use of public funds for campaign promotions.
