The long-time head chef of the iconic Klub Knjizevnika (Writers’ Club) restaurant in downtown Belgrade was fired as a judge on the TV Prva show MasterChef, after two recorded seasons, for supporting student protests.
Branko Kisic was first seen among the chefs preparing food for students at a mass rally in Belgrade at end of January, and he did the same at the February 15 rally in the city of Kragujevac.
Kisic confirmed in an Instragram post that he was fired by the “MasterChef” production team for this reason.
“As you may already know, about ten days ago, a representative from MasterChef Serbia verbally informed me that due to my open support for the student protests, I am not suitable to film the third and fourth seasons of the series,” he wrote.
“I am publicly confirming this information in solidarity with all those who are facing pressure, threats, and dismissals in their fight for justice and a better future during these weeks,” he added.
According to Nova.rs, Kisic has had the opportunity to cook for international celebrities, with media mentioning Johnny Depp, Pierce Brosnan, Julia Roberts, and Prince Charles. He now proudly adds Serbian students to this list.
