The Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation received a threat via the Facebook page, where the person behind the account “Dušan Milisavljević” left a comment in which he wrote in capital letters: “And why does it from Ćuruvija (foundation) worry you, take care, there is still Easter, hands are golden.” The foundation reported the threats to the competent authorities.
The comment was placed under the post in which the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation published the Statute of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media.
The Coalition for Media Freedom strongly condemns the threats directed at people from the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation. We believe that such threats are extremely dangerous, considering that the journalist Slavko Ćuruvija was killed on Easter 1999 in the passage in front of the building where he lived in Belgrade, and that he was followed for days by 27 members of the State Security Service until the crime itself.
We remind that no one was held accountable for the murder of Slavko Ćuruvija. The four members of the State Security Service accused of this murder, who were initially sentenced twice by the first-instance court to a total of 100 years in prison, were acquitted by the Court of Appeal in February.
Regarding that, the Foundation expressed its disagreement with the verdict in a statement, after which it received lawsuits for injury to reputation and honor from the three who were tried for the murder of Slavko Ćuruvija.
So, knowing that Slavko Ćuruvija was killed on Easter, a certain Dušan Milisavljević says that “there is still Easter”. We ask if he is telling us that there will be more murders?
We expect the Prosecutor’s Office for High-Tech Crime to find out as soon as possible who is behind the mentioned account on Facebook and that this person will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. Such threats must not go unpunished.
