Democratic Party (DS) leader Srdjan Milivojevic filed a criminal complaint on Tuesday with the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade against members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) for failing to intervene while an N1 television crew was being assaulted.
Speaking at a press conference outside the Prosecutor’s Office, Milivojevic said the N1 crew had been attacked directly in front of the illegal tent encampment outside the Serbian Parliament, in full view of police officers who did nothing as pro-government supporters came out of the tents and attacked the journalists.
Along with the criminal complaint against unidentified police officers, Milivojevic also submitted a formal report to the Internal Control Sector of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), demanding that it investigate what happened and identify which officers are responsible for failing to act.
