Maja Sever, EFJ President, and Nasser Abu Bakr, President of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate (PJS), thank European journalists’ organisations for their efforts to convince their governments to take concrete action, beyond words, to put an end to the forced starvation in Gaza and the war crimes and crimes against humanity targeting civilians, particularly Palestinian journalists.
Through this new joint initiative, “From Journalist to Journalist”, launched today, the EFJ and PJS are asking every European journalist to donate €10 to the IFJ Safety Fund to finance the purchase of food for journalists in Gaza and their families.
“This money will help to alleviate the famine and help the families of Palestinian journalists to obtain the minimum necessary food, milk and flour. Journalists in Gaza are experiencing a humanitarian tragedy without precedent in history,” said Nasser Abu Bakr.
“We cannot simply offer words of support to our colleagues in Gaza. We call on all journalists who are able to do so to make a donation via the IFJ Safety Fund, which will ensure that the funds raised are used in the most effective and secure way possible,” added Maja Sever.
