The inaugural session of Serbia’s electronic media watchdog has been scheduled for Monday, July 20, the state TV (RTS) reported.
The term in office of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) Council expired more than a year ago and the body has not been fully functional since then. The process to appoint new members to the Council have been ongoing for months, with state, national minority and independent organizations and bodies nominating members amid calls of irregularities. The REM is supposed to be independent. It decides on permits for frequencies with national coverage.
REM spokeswoman Olivera Zekic told the RTS that all eight members of the council agreed on the date during their most recent informal meeting.
