Igor Bozic, the outgoing director of N1 television, was notified by new management on Friday that he has been removed from his post, that he is currently unassigned and will no longer lead the newsroom until the Adria News Network (ANN) Board makes a final decision on his status.

Bozic’s current status is officially employed but unassigned, and he is no longer in charge of the N1 editorial team. The new Board is currently reviewing his position and is expected to define his future role in the coming days.

Student protesters from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETF) reacted to the news of his removal. “Up until now, you have been able to hear our side of the story thanks to the journalists who are now being targeted by all the president’s men. Now, they need our voice and support. You haven’t given up, have you?” the students wrote.

Adria News Network has not provided a public explanation for the decision to remove Bozic.

New director Brent Sadler announced that he will meet with staff on Tuesday to answer their questions.

Sadler who will, along with Wouter van Houwelingen, serve as a legal representative for Adria News doo, addressed the public on Friday regarding the changes.

He said that these moves do not affect the editorial structure.

“The introduction of a unified governance framework across ANN includes administrative changes of this kind. These changes relate strictly to corporate governance, legal representation and financial oversight. They do not affect editorial structures, decision-making, workflows or reporting lines,” Sadler said.
