Dveri insinuates that “for years, pro-Western media in Serbia have a long-term agenda to undermine the authority of the most respected institution in the Serbian people with lies and fabrications, but it is obvious that they do not succeed, so they must engage additional media resources.” They claim that the presentation of the character and work of Bishop Bulović actually insults the traditional and spiritual values of our people.
Dveri’s false claim that “this attitude towards the largest religious community in Serbia, in modern European societies, to which these media often refer, would be severely legally sanctioned” is very worrying. Especially their reminder of “reactions in France when insulted the rights of Muslim believers “, because that is how the murders of journalists and dissidents are called for, following the example of the terrorist attack on the editorial office of the Parisian weekly Charlie Hebdo.
We ask whether this is the way in which the Dveri movement will deal with its dissidents in the future, especially journalists, who do not share their values and religious views on life?
NUNS calls on participants in public life, especially politicians, to understand the importance of public speech that can have far-reaching consequences and stop dangerous labeling and targeting of professional journalists, and the competent authorities to react and not allow public calls for lynching dissidents.
We will also include this case in our database of attacks and pressures on journalists and inform international organizations and institutions about it.
