On the night of April 25, insults and threats were sent to Dinko Gruhonjic and members of his family – his wife, children and sisters via Facebook, accusing him of being a “traitor”, with a lot of disgusting words and expressions. The same person tried to call him via Facebook messenger.
We remind the public that this is just one in a series of threats to Gruhonjic, and that threatening messages were written earlier in the entrance of the building where he lives with his family, which more than clearly indicates that security of him and his family are endangered.
The state bears responsibility because numerous public authorities and their tabloids have publicly labeled Gruhonjic, because of his professional journalistic work, and often on a national basis.
IJAS reminds the state authorities that this is the seventh case of attacks and threats against journalists in the last ten days, and that international journalist organizations have also announced themselves on that occasion. IJAS calls on the state authorities to react as soon as possible, because not resolving the cases only encourages the perpetrators to continue with the attacks.
