Serbian Information Minister Boris Bratina downplayed the publication of a list of journalists by a pro-regime NGO, saying that they were not being targeted.

The Center for Social Stability NGO published a list of 45 names of journalists whose activities they would look into soon. The NGO is known for videos defaming independent journalists and media.

Bratina said he does not think that is targeting. “I don’t think that is anything more than … investigative journalism,” the minister told N1 adding that “like any provocative series it wants to shine a light which they maybe have a right to shine”.

He said he does not think the list endangers anyone on it. “I don’t see that anyone should be afraid. A lot of journalists have been attacked by both sides. If we should express fear it could be in general. This series, it seems to me, is not cause for that. I think those opeople will not face problems, at least not in the most vulgar sense,” he added.

He refused to guarantee that nothing will happen to the people on the list. “There is a higher probability of something that bad happening but I think that is not worrying for not…. It would mean pressure on the media if I urged them not to show something like this,” he said.
