It could be worse: Who will be the next director general of RTS?

The competition has been announced, the ideal candidate of the progressive regime is being sought for the new general director of RTS. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Dragan J. Vučićević was on the list,” says retired FPN professor Rade Veljanovski for “Vreme”.

“We give the state a 20 percent discount at the start.”

This was said by a former director Radio and Television of Serbia, in order to explain that the public service or media that were then still state-owned, such as ““Politics” i “Večernje novosti”“After all, they work for the state, so they act like that.

However, during the first, but much more so, the second mandate, the General Director of RTS, Dragan Bujošević, gave the progressive regime a much larger 20 percent discount. Now, when the competition for a new general director has been announced, the question arises whether Aleksandar Vučić will find an adequate successor and what percentage he will ask for.

“It is not Serbian to remain silent” – not even for the regime

“When you draw a line under the two mandates of Dragan Bujošević at the head of RTS, the result is quite disappointing,” retired FPN professor Rade Veljanovski told Vreme. “At the same time, there is no doubt that Bujošević was once a correct journalist and that he proved that he knows what professionalism in journalism is.”

Bujošević became famous in his profession primarily by writing in newspapers, and for years he worked for the newspaper “Politika”. He also had the show “It’s not Serbian to listen” on BK television, from where he came to RTS as a respected journalist.

“On RTS, he proved that he did not understand what his basic role was, and this was shown several times in his last statements after student blockade of public service“, adds Veljanovski. “He thought that this media should continue to work as his predecessor did Aleksandar Tijanic and that it constantly gives primacy to the state, like some kind of government house in socialism. He was actually supposed to transform her. We have come to a situation where he claims that he is giving other parties the opportunity to say something on RTS, but it is actually so minor that it cannot be taken as an argument.”

Despite this, Aleksandar Vučić and his entourage call him “yellow Bujke”, probably because RTS did not get close enough to Informer TV in terms of its loyalty to the progressives.

The border is moving.

Bujošević leaves behind the public service as a follower of the government, on which Aleksandar Vučić appears less often – only if he strategically decides to do so.

The informer posted a tweet speculating that he would Milomir Marić, director of Hepi in resignation, could be the new director of RTS. It was written by former football player Branko Babić, whom Informer admires and calls him “the fiercest critic of the blockaders”. They sign him as a businessman, and this is a man who got rich by introducing to Serbia – permanent makeup for turbo folk singers and those women who want to look like that.

Although it sounds incredible that Marić could get to this position, the current staffing of the government does not favor democracy. That’s how Boris Bratina became Minister of Information, who assessed that some television stations and the press, especially weeklies, “they are waging war against their country”.

Minister of Education became Dejan Vuk Stanković, who proposes the establishment of the Faculty of Serbian Studies in Niš, which would be led by proven progressive cadres.

Dragoslav Bokan was a guest on TV Informer and confirmed what was unofficially known: that he was appointed to the position of manager of the Board of Directors National Theatre with the task and goal of “clearing it up a bit and tidying it up”.

“When Bujošević was coming, the ministers were different people, and now the border has moved a lot,” says Veljanovski. “I wouldn’t be surprised if the names in the contest were like Dragan J. Vučićević. That’s when you think it can’t get any worse. It’s important to know that RTS can still be worse.”

If Vučić does not find an adequate replacement for Bujošević, there is a possibility that the contest for the general director will be declared invalid for any reason, so that he will remain at the head of RTS for some time.
