The marathon trial, which has lasted for eight years, is nearing its end, and the Court of Appeals should finally decide on the appeals of the prosecution and the defense.
JAS and IJAS expect the Court of Appeals to confirm the first-instance verdict and point out that its pronouncement is an act that should mean the end of impunity for crimes against journalists in Serbia. JAS and IJAS demand that Miroslav Kurak, who is still inaccessible to the Serbian judiciary, be brought to justice.
In December last year, Radomir Markovic was sentenced to 30 years in prison, Milan Radonjic to 30 years in prison, Ratko Romic to 20 and Miroslav Kurak to 20 years in prison for the murder of Slavko Curuvija before the first instance court.
The case has been in the Court of Appeals since last month, which, according to the media, is waiting for a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime in order to schedule a public session.
On this occasion, we invite our colleagues to join us on Monday to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the murder of our dear colleague.
