Two journalists, a correspondent for the Beta news agency and a reporter for the Suboticke.rs portal, were assaulted in front of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) offices in Subotica by SNS supporters on Tuesday.

Beta’s correspondent said that men dressed in black prevented them from photographing a rally taking place outside the SNS offices.

One of the men crumpled the accreditation that the Beta reporter was wearing around her neck, and attempted to snatch her colleague’s phone.

Police quickly arrived and prevented a more serious incident.

Subotica residents assembled in downtown Subotica on Sunday evening to show support for Dijana Hrka, mother of Stefan Hrka, one of the 16 victims of the November 1, 2024 Novi Sad Train Station canopy collapse. Dijana Hrka is on a hunger strike, demanding that those responsible for this disaster be prosecuted.

The SNS offices, where a group of party supporters had gathered, are located near the place where the protest was held.
