Prominent lawyer and legal analyst Rodoljub Sabic criticized Serbian parliament speaker Ana Brnabic for what he called “irresponsible and harmful” interference in the selection process for members of the Electronic Media Regulatory Council (REM).

Sabic said Brnabic’s remarks downplaying concerns from over 60 authorized organizations showed “cynical disregard” for legality.

“She is presenting the votes of unauthorized individuals as undisputed, which is legally absurd,” he wrote.

According to Sabic, Brnabic improperly invoked minority council laws to justify irregular procedures, thereby violating the Electronic Media Law.

He also accused her of undermining minority representation, noting that only three minority councils lawfully participated in candidate selection — while the speaker allowed unauthorized coordination bodies to influence the vote.

Sabic warned that, as in previous cases, Brnabic’s actions risk contaminating and delegitimizing the entire process of selecting REM members.
