A court ordered the man who assaulted an N1 TV crew into house arrest instead of jail, sources at the First Basic Court in Belgrade confirmed.

The court ordered Vladan Sretenovic to wear an electronic anklet. The sources did not specify how long he will be in house arrest. Courts can order 30 day detention periods for suspects which can be extended.

N1 also learned that Sretenovic admitted to assaulting the N1 reporter and cameraman. The incident took place in the Caciland enclosure between the Serbian Presidency building and parliament where regime supporters gathered in large numbers in what they said was defense of the president and state. Sretenovic first ordered them to stop recording, then shouted at them to leave the enclosure before smashing the camera to the pavement. He was charged with preventing the broadcasting of reporting.

The police deployed at Caciland did not react and it took more than 2 months for Sretenovic to be found and arrested.
