The N1 Serbia Instagram account was disabled on Wednesday following a coordinated hacker attack.
The N1 newsroom immediately contacted Meta support and is working to urgently get the account restored. For years, the page has served as one of the most important sources of reliable and uncensored news for the Serbian public.
This is not an isolated incident, but rather the latest in a series of pressures exerted on independent media and civic initiatives. In recent weeks, the Instagram accounts of other media outlets and student protest groups have been suspended or compromised, while the account of the Go-Change movement was removed just days ago – all happening at a moment when social networks have become a vital channel for spreading information outside the regime’s control.
