A court in Novi Sad ordered temporary measures against the Center for Social Stability banning that organization from targeting N1 and Nova TV journalists in their YouTube videos and social media posts.

The measures specifically prohibit the use of the terms poisoning, inciting discrimination, violence and hatred, and the creating of an atmosphere of chaos when referring to those media outlets.

United Media and Adria News have initiated legal action against the Novi Sad-based Center for Social Stability for the production and broadcast of a video titled Evil Times which targets N1 and Nova S television and their journalists.

The court ruling says that the temporary measures come as part of the proceedings initiated by N1 and Nova S banning the defendant from making publicly available any video recordings containing the logos of these television stations or footage of their journalists, as well as statements claiming they are lying or spreading hatred. “This provisional measure is final and binding, and the prohibition remains in effect until the conclusion of the proceedings,” it said.

A second temporary measure banns the organization from using, in films and other video content produced and published on television, YouTube, and social media platforms, statements alleging that N1 and Nova S are poison factories, that they incite discrimination, violence, and hatred, that they lie and create an atmosphere of chaos, that they promote extreme violence and manipulate the public, or that their aim is to provoke violent reactions from the public and destabilize the state.

It said that an appeal was filed by the Center for Social Stability against the temporary measures claiming incorrect facts and errors in implementing the law and is under review.

The temporary measures in the proceedings initiated by journalists Zeljko Veljkovic and Jelena Obucina, bans the organization from using in its video content published on TV, YouTube, and social media platforms statements claiming that Veljković is an autochauvinistic journalist who insults and belittles his own people, that he does his job to ingratiate himself with foreign diplomats and financiers, that Veljkovic and Obucina are part of an autochauvinist trio, and that they spread false news. “This temporary measure is final and binding, and the ban remains in effect until the conclusion of the proceedings,” it said.

The measures have temporarily halted the media campaign waged by the Center for Social Stability against N1 and Nova S and their journalists.
