An unknown young man with a hood on his head several times kicked and broke the glass of the gate of the Hungarian media house in Subotica during the night between Saturday and Sunday, and then fled the scene.

“The building of the Hungarian media house in Subotica was severely attacked. An unknown man kicked the front door several times during the night, causing great material damage. By the way, the building also houses Panon RTV, Subotica Hungarian Radio and the Subotica editorial office of the daily Magyar So and the weekly Het Nap”, it is stated in the announcement of Radio-Television Pannon on the occasion of this event.

According to unofficial information, an unreported gathering was held in the building next to Panon RTV, when a masked man kicked the gate several times and fled the scene. The Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia condemns the vandalism of breaking glass on the building of the Hungarian media house. We believe that this attack poses a threat to all journalists employed in newsrooms that use the space.

We appeal to the competent institutions to find the perpetrators of this week as soon as possible and to protect the employees of the Hungarian media in Subotica.
