Unknown perpetrators broke into the offices of the Independent Journalists’ Association of Vojvodina (NDNV) in Novi Sad overnight.
According to initial, unofficial reports, the burglary took place around 11 pm. Security camera footage reportedly shows three individuals breaking into the premises.
NDNV President Ana Lalic confirmed that police had conducted an investigation and that forensic teams determined the break-in occurred through the magazine storage area of the office, which is connected to all other rooms within the association.
„NDNV does not want to speculate about the motive behind this break-in at this time. However, given that we have been targeted for months and that our members have been subjected to brutal smear campaigns—accusing us of being leaders of opposition and student protests—we cannot rule out a connection. In any case, NDNV will continue its work as before. This incident surprised us this morning, but it does not intimidate us, nor will it prevent us from carrying out our work,“ Lalic stated.
Police have yet to release further details regarding the investigation.
