Spokesperson for the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) Olivera Zekić today she called on the “new and old” members of REM to come to an agreement and elect the president and deputy of that body at the constitutive session, and she called on Informer television to “drop the ball a little” because 90 percent of the applications it received REM relates to its program.
Zekic is on TV Informer pointed out that she does not expect the election of the ninth member of the Council of REM because it is necessary to finish the elections of the councils of national minorities and their constitution.
She claims that media such as N1, Nova S, Radar and Danas created an artificial division into independent members of the REM Council, and she assessed that everyone’s wish is for the REM Council to be constructive.
“If the president and deputy president of the REM Council are not elected at the constitutive session on Monday, the position of chairman will be held by the oldest member, Dubravka Valić Nedeljković,” said Olivera Zekić.
According to her, the REM Council has 360 reports for local radio stations to resolve, grant or revoke a license.
Zekić pointed out that 90 percent of the applications to the Council of REM came in connection with the work of Informer television, and several of them were against TV Pink in connection with “Elita”, as well as against Prva and B92, while there were no objections to the work of TV Happy.
“Not that you are under scrutiny, but you have the most applications, so you could lower it a bit,” Olivera Zekić told Informer television.
Unpaid liabilities
She warned media service providers to pay their dues to REM, which is facing bankruptcy.
“Pametnjaković thought they didn’t have to pay because there is no Council of REM”, she stated and pointed out that among the biggest debtors is Studio B with 27 million dinars.
“That’s why, Mrs. Vučićević, you’re spending money on the sun,” Olivera Zekic called the director of TV Studio B, Ivana Vučićević.
According to her, all REM Council members will soon agree on the need to collect debts.
When asked about the announcement of a competition for the Board of Directors of public services, Olivera Zekić said that it is necessary for REM’s professional services to harmonize the old Work Rules with the new three media laws.
“After that, there is a public debate on the draft rules of procedure, and then adoption by the Council of the REM. Once it is adopted, then the procedure for electing the Board of Directors of the two public services will begin,” said Olivera Zekić.
