The Serbian parliament relaunched the procedure to elect a national minority member of the country’s top electronic media regulatory body on Thursday.

The Culture and Information Committee took the decision to relaunch the procedure to elect a member of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) Council nominated by the National Councils of national minorities. The invitation for nominations will be published in the Official Gazette, the pro-government Politika daily and on parliament’s portal.

The eight other members of the REM Council were elected a day earlier.

The election of the REM Council has been hotly disputed for months with some nominees saying they would pull out of the process. The regulator is a nominally independent body which has been accused of showing bias in favor of pro-regime media.
