In the preliminary investigation proceedings, the First Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade concluded that the editor of the pro-regime tabloid Srpski Telegraf, Milan Ladjevic, hit and shoved Radar magazine journalist Vuk Cvijic on May 29, 2024 in Belgrade, but found that the violent act did not constitute a criminal offense.

This information comes from a resolution by the First Basic Prosecutor’s Office, which was reviewed Tuesday by the editorial teams of Nova.rs and Radar through a legal representative.

The surveillance footage of the attack, which the prosecutor’s office received after a lengthy wait and referred to in its resolution, shows Ladjevic striking with his left fist Cvijic on the right side of his face before pushing him, causing the Radar journalist to fall to the ground.

Ladjevic has denied committing any offense, providing a completely different account to both the police and the prosecution.

However, the resolution indicates that this type of “violence,” as it was characterized by the prosecution, does not meet the criteria for the criminal offense of violent behavior, nor any other crime that is prosecuted ex officio.
