Prosecutors threw out charges filed by an N1 reporter against a ruling party official claiming no crime was committed.
N1 reporter Mladen Savatovic was threatened by Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) official Dejan Milenkovic who tried to prevent him from reporting and threatening to break the camera if the N1 crew didn’t move away. That tape was handed to prosecutors as evidence.
Prosecutors decided that the recording of Milenkovic obstructing and threatening the N1 crew did not mean that he prevented them from doing their job because the incident was aired.
The prosecutors said in a written note to N1 lawyers that the crime of assaulting a journalist and preventing his work did not happen.
