The prosecutor who threatened to fine an investigative portal over a leaked recording has been appointed to head an anti-corruption department in Belgrade, Nova.rs said on Wednesday.

It said that prosecutor Aleksandar Milosevic was assigned to head the Special Anti-Corruption Department at the Belgrade Higher Public Prosecution (VJT) which is headed by regime-loyalist Nenad Stefanovic. Milosevic became known to the public for demanding a copy of the leaked phone conversation between the CEOs of United Group and the state-controlled Telekom Serbia which included plans to dismiss United Media CEO Aleksandra Subotic. He threatened to fine the KRIK investigative portal if it did not hand over a copy of the audio recording after KRIK editors replied that the recording was readily available online and refusing to reveal their source.

Milosevic came to the VJT in Belgrade from the Basic Prosecution in the city of Smederevo right after Stefanovic took over the VJT. He was detached there initially and was officially elected prosecutor at the Belgrade VJT in June 2024.
