Protest in front of the Assembly due to the attack on the N1 team, regime journalists are also at the meeting

Media workers, associations and citizens gathered in front of the Serbian Parliament as a sign of protest against the attack on the N1 team. Banners, whistles and reactions to the presence of the Informer marked the gathering, which warns of increasingly frequent attacks on journalists.

 

A large number of media workers and citizens gathered this evening near the Serbian Parliament to express solidarity with the television crew N1 which is November 20th attacked at that place.

 

The gathered carry a banner with the words “N1 is not alone” and “Rebellious university, wake up too”, carry Serbian flags and blow whistles.

 

The Informer journalists who brought banners with the inscriptions “The color of the microphone is not an excuse for violence” with microphones television N1 and Informer, “We are glad that you have finally woken up”, “Stop violence against journalists” and “Thank you for your support. Informer journalists” are also reporting from the meeting, which caused a violent reaction from the crowd who shouted “Put the horse’s head back, Dragana”.

 

Police officers and a small number of supporters of the government are present behind the fence on Nikola Pašić Square.

 

The meeting was invited by the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia, the Association of Media, the Association of Online Media (AOM), the Independent Association of Journalists of Vojvodina (NDNV), the Business Association of the Association of Local and Independent Media “Local Press”, the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation and the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM).

 

The associations called on the entire journalistic community and citizens to express professional solidarity with the N1 team, as well as with all journalists who in the past period were the target of attacks while reporting in the public interest.

 

The attack on the N1 team took place on November 20 at the intersection of Vlajkovićeva and Nikola Pašić Square, when an unknown man approached them, asked them not to film, and soon after took and threw their camera.
