Regime-affiliated politician Dijana Hrkalovic was sentenced to pay a fine for offensive remarks made about the editor of the KRIK investigative portal Stevan Dojcinovic.
KRIK said that Hrkalovic was ordered to pay a fine of 100,000 Dinars (1 Euro – 118 Dinars) and cover Dojcinovic’s legal expenses totaling another 70,000 Dinars. Speaking on the pro-regime TV Pink in June 2024, Hrkalovic claimed that Dojcinovic was closely affiliated with organized crime boss Radoje Zvicer who headed the Kavacki crime clan. She also claimed he was linked to the Belivuk organized crime group.
Hrkalovic continued making offensive remarks about Dojconovic after the show on TV Pink, primarily on her X profile.
Dojcinovic sued Hrkalovic after she made the false claims in the live appearance. Hrkalovic responded to the law suit saying that Dojcinovic made groundless claims of her links to Belivuk and Zvicer.
The court ruled that Hrkalovic’s statements inflicted harm on Dojcinovic’s reputation and professional integrity. Hrkalovic does not have the right to appeal the ruling.
Hrkalovic, a former senior official of the Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP), sued KRIK for harming her reputation but that law suit was thrown out.
