The Serbian state TV (RTS) correspondent bureau in Novi Sad said on Tuesday that it would not cover President Aleksandar Vucic’s events in a show of solidarity with their fellow correspondents in Nis.
The Nis RTS bureau said it would not cover Vucic’s events after he called one of its female reporters an imbecile because of her coverage of the mass protest in that southern Serbian city on Saturday. Vucic issued a statement apologizing for the imbecile insult but questioning the objectivity of the NIS RTS correspondents.
Students, journalists and members of the public gathered in front of the RTS bureau in Nis to show support for the state TV journalists insulted by the president.
Milan Srdic, a journalist with the RTS Novi Sad bureau, said that they would not cover Vucic’s events unless he apologizes appropriately, the Serbian Journalists’ Association (UNS) reported.
