“The law is equal for all and protects everyone unless you are Aleksandar Vucic or a member of his family. If that wasn’t the case, the Danas tabloid would have to explain its actions and be held accountable for jeopardizing the security of Aleksandar Vucic and his family by disclosing the address where the Serbian president lives,” Vulin is quoted as saying in a press release.
Danas daily did not publish the exact address of the Vucic family residence, saying only that they live in an apartment in the Belvil area of New Belgrade.
Vulin said that “the hatred that the Danas tabloid is spreading against Vucic is its raison d’etre” and added that the Serbian President refuses to take seriously the hatred he lives with but that the police will.
Vulin was joined by outgoing Prime Minister Ana Brnabic who said in a Twitter post that the publishing of the president’s personal information is “a scandal and brutal violation of the law on protecting data and other laws because he is a person under protection. “Rule of law and freedom of the media include responsibility. Institutions should react,” she tweeted.
