Serbian ruling party MP Marjan Risticevic accused N1 and Nova S of illegal activities in support of the opposition.
Risticevic spoke in parliament to elaborate his proposal to amend the law on electronic media. Just 5 ruling coalition MPs voted to include Risticevic’s amendments on the agenda of the autumn sitting of parliament.
According to the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) MP, his amendments to the law on electronic media would limit the operating of the “Luxembourg TV stations” in Serbia. N1 and Nova S and their parent company United Media are owned by Luxembourg-based United Group. Risticevic submitted his amendments in February 2024.
Risticevic said that the programming of the “Luxembourg TV stations” was drawn up with the aim of supporting the illegal violent activities of the opposition with help from outside the country. “The foreign element wants to violently bring in a group of people who would be servile and agree to take part in destroying the Republika Srpska, recognize the independence of Kosovo and declare the crimes committed in Srebrenica a genocide. We as a state have no problem with elections but we have to bring order to the media first, as well as the situation in education and the judiciary all of which are actively destroying the state of Serbia and trying to prevent Serbia from being an independent state but a protectorate with the help of the foreign element,” he told parliament.
