Friday’s protests across Serbia included marches as in previous weeks which were joined by striking school teachers and staff at the Serbian state TV (RTS).

Students and their supporters stood still for the 15 Minutes of Silence memorial for the 15 victims of the Novi Sad Railway Station roof collapse, blocking major intersections in a number of cities across the country.

RTS staff stood on the street in front of the government-controlled station along with activists of the Bridge Stays initiative who are trying to prevent the demolition of a historic bridge in the center of Belgrade.

Teachers gathered in a central square in Novi Sad before they joined the memorial protest and marched to the city’s University campus in a show of support for the ongoing protest.

The teachers are demanding the dismissal of Education Minister Slavica Djukic Dejanovic.

No incidents were reported.
