On Sunday, student protesters issued an apology to a Serbian state TV (RTS) crew for the inconvenience caused during the Novi Sad bridge blockades, which disrupted their reporting and live broadcast on the RTS evening news.
The students emphasized that such actions were contrary to the goals of the protest and the values they advocate.
They condemned and formally distanced themselves from incidents that occurred during the 27-hour blockade, where some individuals interrupted the RTS broadcast by making noise and obstructing camera shots.
“Since the beginning of the blockades, we have been demanding that RTS provide adequate coverage of the protests. We view this disruptive behavior as contrary to the interests of the blockades and the values we stand for,” the students stated on their Instagram account.
The students pledged to “make additional efforts in the future to ensure that journalists can report from protests without interference.”
