As the main reason for this move by the management, the contract for the production of these television formats was cited, and as a key argument, a noticeable drop in viewership in the previous period was cited, which does not justify their further broadcasting in prime time.
The decisive factor in making this decision was also the financial aspect. According to the data that was previously made public, the production of some of the mentioned formats was a huge expense for the budget of the Public Service, costing up to 30.000 euros per episode.
It was also said that with this move, the Public Service of Serbia frees up space and resources for completely new projects that should also attract a younger audience, which was confirmed to the media by Sandra Petrović, chief and responsible editor of the Entertainment program.
Refreshing with new formats
She announced that the entertainment program of Radio-Television of Serbia will be “refreshed with new formats and a more modern production approach and with the aim of improving and deepening the genre diversity of the program”, while she explained the cancellation of the mentioned three shows as the natural development of television content, which implies “space for new ideas, authors and expressions. That is why, with a well-thought-out programming twist, we want to enable new formats to find their way to viewers and bring freshness that will delight the audience again and again”.
